The Phoenix Choir of Crawley is a registered charity (registration number 1169875), formed in 2016 by the merger of two existing choirs.

We perform a varied and exciting repertoire, ranging from major classical choral works to shorter sacred and secular pieces. We are committed to achieving a high standard of performance and regularly work with professional soloists and musicians. Each year, one of our concerts is accompanied by either a full orchestra or chamber ensemble, giving our members and audiences the opportunity to enjoy some of the great works of the choral repertoire.

2026: Coleridge Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast; Rutter’s Requiem

2025: L’Estrange’s Freedom; Haydn’s Nelson Mass

2024: Works by Chilcott, including a workshop with him; Rutter’s Sprig of Thyme

2023: Puccini’s Messa di Gloria; Faure’s Requiem

2022: A concert of Film & TV music; Handel’s Messiah

Our Director

Our Musical Director is George Salmon.

George studied music at the University of Birmingham, where he took up conducting. In his final year, George was selected for the conducting specialism.

After graduating, George attended the University of Surrey, achieving Distinction in his Masters Degree in conducting. Since then, he has received tuition and masterclasses from prestigious tutors including Jorma Panula, Colin Metters and Peter Stark.

Our Accompanist

We are lucky enough to be ably assisted by enthusiastic and sympathetic rehearsal  accompanist, Gina Eason. Gina is a piano accompanist and organist working throughout Surrey and Sussex. She also plays the cello and recorder and is a keen composer of works,  including small scale choral music, much of it for use in church services. In her spare time, Gina’s interests include outdoor activities such as cycling and bird watching, and she is an enthusiastic gardener.
